Probably quicker to pop into the Dyna section to ask that. Or check your factory service manual, if you have one!

I think there is something published (maybe in the FSM) that the Notches go toward the bearing, but it really doesn't matter.

On a 2003 it's better to let down the exhaust to allow access to the bolt for the axle. (yes, what was Harley thinking when they installed it in this direction) Then remove the cotter pin on the nut side. Support the bike and the rim and pull the axle. Lift up the bike a bit further to let the tire out from the rear fender.
