I just bought a set of Commander IIs from Revzilla and my local Honda dealership says they will mount/balance for $57/tire.
Seems like a bargain to me.

...long story short, I think someone got in trouble because "a bike like mine with all the chrome takes more labor to change the tires..."
He did make it right and apologized for the confusion.
Sounds like you received a bargain price based on a mistake that was made. I'm sure it took them at least 1 to 1-1/2 hours to perform the work.

Local indy shop wanted $105 with me bringing wheels and new tires in. Honda shop was best price at $78 off the bike total. Both Harley dealers were $125+... Commander II's from Riders Domain aka Jake Wilson were $333 delivered.

Good info here, thanks all. I am in need of replacing the original rear Scorcher on my 2010 FXDC and started looking around for local Indy shops assuming the dealer would be way overpriced. I was quoted $150 to take off and put back on plus $35 mount and balance plus cost of tire. Needless to say I was a bit surprised but reading this thread it seems like pricing is all over the place. I'll have to look at a few other shops. Not many around me that get good reviews.

I must have an awesome indy.....

charges 10 bucks mount and balance loose

40 for a rear and 30 for a front if still on the bike.

it isnt worth the cussin, sweatin and cryin to break out the spoons at those rates

Figure I would update this thread. Called the local HD dealer to install a tire on a Fatboy. $120 labor rear, $120 labor front. I asked, what if I bought the tire there? He said tire is $290 regular price (I wasn't born yesterday) but he would discount it to $220 for me. Somehow he calculated the total and it was over $400 just for the rear mounted and balanced again. I honestly find it hilarious. Ordered BOTH tires brand new online for $316 delivered and will have an Indy put it on. HD can suck it if this is how they are going to act. Really put a bad taste in my mouth on that one.

Here's my update also. After calling the indy who gave me the $150 quote to remove the rear wheel I called them back and left a message asking if they'd mount and balance if I brought the wheel and tire in. After waiting a week for a call back I just took the wheel off myself and brought it to Cycle Gear to mount and balance. They were recommended by a few of the guys I sometimes ride with. For those who can't find someone local to do it on the cheap Cycle Gear mounts and balances for $25 if you buy the tire from them or $50 if you bring your own tire. Not all locations do it. After shopping around their tire price was very competitive, the 2nd cheapest behind an Amazon merchant. I'm picking it up tomorrow.
