I just replaced tires on two bikes last week I had metzlers one was a roadking and the other was a electraglide rk had 12k and the electra glide had 11k I put new metzlers front and back. I know I could have got more mialage out of the front but when the next rear needs replacing the front will be shot. I will not have that on my mind for the next 11k miles.I REPALCE BOTH FRONT AND REAR .

Since I bought my 2009 I have had three sets of tires and just ordered the 4th.

Stock D407 for FXCWC front and rear miles at change - 8737
Stock D407 for FXCWC front and rear miles at change - 9757
Stock D407 for FXCWC front and rear miles at change - 8506 current set still on but I just ordered Metzeler ME880 yesterday. I'll end up with around 9000 miles on the third set of Dunlops but they are really due to be changed now.

If you run lower pressure than recommended, the tire will run hotter and wear faster.
I try to use Dunlop 491s when I can find them. My first one on the rear went over 20,000 miles. I'm on the second one now and have a third in the garage. They were supposed to stop making them but I could find them last summer easier than a few years ago. No other rear has gotten over 16,000 miles.

I have a 05 Road King and change the rear tire at about 7500 miles. It's getting thin but still has tread. I change the tire before we take our first big trip in June each year, Branson, Mo. this year. Front tire every other year so about 15000 on the front. Some may think it's to soon but I like the fact I have fresh rubber between my butt and the road. I change the tire myself and made up a rough looking wheel balancer that actually works.
