Default Update on Michelin Commander II's

Yeah, I know its been like a whole year since this was replied to, but figured why not update this...

Been running Dunlops pretty much on every Harley I've had in the last 20 years or so...knew they didn't last as long as some, but pretty much had trusted them. Ride on clay roads, gravel roads, back roads and hunting trails in MI , plus 70-80+ on the Interstates there, (70 is speed limit) and they always served me well, but hated to have to put 2-3 sets of tires on every year.

So thought I'd try the Michelin Commander II's . I put them on my 2007 FLHRS (Road King) and have a little over 1000 miles on them.
Can't speak for the longevity yet, but will say that no matter what, I won't be going back to any other tires.

Where I used to get the wobble over the bridge grates, its straight sailing over them now. And the rain grooves on the interstate that used to give me a little high speed tickle I don't even feel anymore.
But on the damp clay roads, where I routinely used to have to keep a feel on my bars for slippage, and usually did low speed side to side slide wobbles if I tried to do over 30mph, its like I'm on asphalt now. And high speed corners, where the Road Kings kind of have a little squishiness in the rear end if you hit a curve over a certain speed, that's pretty much gone now.

My wife (she must have the behind of a Princess) who used to complain every time I went over a set of railroad tracks or hit a hole somewhere, even mentioned it felt better.

So I'll hope for the life on them, but its worth it to me just for the ride and the way I now don't worry about counter-steering through the corners and curves now.

Anyway, my 2 cents on that...

I've decided to give them a whirl too. My local indie wants $200 installed for the rear on my Dyna. ****, for $40, I'll let her do the work.

Had the Commanders on my Fatboy...didnt really get much more mileage out of them than the Dunlops or the Metzelers but...they handled much better than the Dunlops and wore evenly rather than cupping like the Dunlops. But the Metzelers on my bike and the way I ride are far better handling and cornering than either of the others....One other thing if you havent tried RideOn tire sealant You should it really makes for a smooth ride.

Agree 100% on the Ride On. Took off those ugly weights too.

The local place that sells the stuff said they've seen the Ride On dry out, so I didn't try it. I do like the Dyna Beads tho.

I just replaced my front tire a month ago, its spent the last 2 summers driving through the desert in the southwest. When I took the tire off I checked out the sealant, it was neatly and evenly spread around the whole tire in the contact patch area. It was soft but solid. I thinking that guy didnt understand how its supposed to settle in the tire.
I let it sit 4 months thru the winter, and it held all the air in the tire I didnt have to add any. My sons bike sat the same time w/o ride on and he was down to 15 lbs. Im sold and will continue to use it.
