Cool Dunlop 407??

Hi everyone. Getting ready to do a rear tire on 2010 EG Limited, 180/65 16 Dunlop D407 Slim White is on there right now. Looking for the best price and the lowest price so far is $250.00 from Ronnie’s HD. How does the Dunlop Elite compare to the 407s? I’ve read about cupping on the 407 but got 12,000 miles on it and it seems ok just getting thin. Helping out a buddy on this one. I mount and balance the tires myself but haven’t done this one before. Anything different on a 2010 compared to 2006 and older when pulling the rear wheel?
Thanks

Is there a reason that it has to be a dunlop 407 tire? Does it have to be White wall? You can get Michelin commander II's for 170 that size and they claimed to last 2x as long as say a Metzeler 880 supposed to grip well too.

You can get the metzeler for 187 both from motorcycle-superstore, which has been great.

Not a good idea to put different tire makes on one bike. If replacing front and rear, get what ever you want; I like my Metzelers. If replacing only rear, stick to same type as front.

Got the tire from Surdyke HD. $252.00 to my door. Had to have the narrow white stripe to match the front. I agree keep the tires the same unless you're changing both of them. I run the wide whites on my RKC, first I didn't really care for them but they grew on me and have had them ever since.

The 407D rear tire has been a great tire many of us are getting 20K out of them with good traction in dry and wet riding.
The American ELT option offered by Dunlop has an improved pattern that they claim is quieter and will give a bit more mileage.
I just switched to the American Elt on the rear 600 miles ago.
So far I have ridden 300 of those miles in rain.
The tire has served me well put I would want to give it some more miles before I speak for it.
But 250 for a 407 ouch you need a dealer that you can work with.
want to avoid cupping keep your air pressure checked and at correct levels.

I run 2 different makes and haven't had a problem at all. I think people around here make more out of nothing then necessary.
