Bought as a project bike and it needed a lot of work & $$$ to get it on the road. It is an old police special and I am the 4th owner.
Engine/Drivetrain Modifications:
Original 1340 evo with 73,800 miles was removed in 2010 by the 2nd owner and replaced with a 3rd gen Revtech 100" with original 5 spd tranny. Bike was extremely difficult to start and it passed to the 3rd owner and when he had enough I purchased it. There were 5 battery cables on the battery running in all directions and previous owner had a 'hot' bolt on the battery cover for boosting??? I upgraded the battery cables with 4ga, installed 1.4kw starter, replaced solenoid & installed Thundervolt battery with 270 ca, problem solved and it starts great every time!
Suspension Modifications:
Original 13" air shocks are still on the bike but I am looking to replace with 11" which should drop the rear suspension 1", enough that I can put me feet flat on the ground.
Wheels/Tires Modifications:
Added all new rubber and used the harley recommended Dunlop tires.
Interior/Exterior Modifications:
Pulled batwing fairing off and replaced or cleaned all electrical connections including grounds & lugs, soldered not crimped. Completed mod so that lights do not come on when switch is in the start position, more battery available to start bike, just need to remember to move switch to light position when riding.
Future Modifications:
Lot's of work in process, big hole in the dash where an old Kenwood radio was installed, not sure what I am going to do there yet. Maybe replace batwing inner/outer fairing & need to replace both front handlebar switch assemblies...
