5 More Harley-Davidson "Bargains"

If you're looking to get in the wind without breaking the bank, here are five more relatively affordable ways to do it on a real Harley, of recent vintage, and not some broken down old basket case.

1. Street 500/750

After looking at five used Harley-Davidson bargain options a little while back, we thought it would be prudent of us to show you a few more. So here are five more ways to enter the world of Harley-Davidson without having to take out a second mortgage.

Our list continues with something new and inexperienced riders will certainly want to check out - the Street 500 and 750. Even if you aren't a newbie, these bikes offer up a lot of value for the money. For new riders, the Street models are a little easier to handle than the heavier Sportster, and the Street 500 specifically has a power output that won't scare a first timer. What you also get is a bike that makes a fantastic around town cruiser or commuter, but one that's also capable of hitting the highway if need be. With a base price of less than eight grand brand new from your local dealer, we call that a bargain.

2. Iron 883

For those who can't stand the thought of tooling around on one of those "new age" Street model Harleys, the Sportster Iron 883 is an equally good value with a list price of about $9,000 (and used ones out there for $6,000 or less). Their friendly nature, and reasonable price, is the reason why the Sportster has remained near the top of Harley's sales chart for decades, after all. With a punchy, air-cooled 883cc V-twin and timeless throwback styling, it's easy to see why Harley sells a boatload of Iron 883's.

3. Road Glide

Depending on what your definition of "bargain" is, you might not think that $25k fits the bill, unless you're talking about a house or a new luxury car. The Road Glide represents your cheapest ticket to obtaining the new (and fantastic) 107-inch Milwaukee Eight V-Twin, and your significant investment will pay off the first time you take this bad boy out on a road trip.

4. Superlow

The appropriately named Superlow offers up the same 883cc V-twin as the Iron 883, but with a short rider friendly 25.5 inch seat height. Weighing in at 565 pounds with a full tank of gas, it's also easy to maneuver at low speeds, making it perfect for beginners. With a starting price of just over $8,500 at your local dealer, it's a great value, too. Just as low slung, but sporting 1200cc, a windscreen and saddlebags, the Superlow 1200T is only about $12,000 and offers a more seasoned rider a lot to love for light touring.

5. Dyna Low Rider

We could list every single Sportster made in the last 20 years (with a few exceptions) because they are all relative bargains, but they are also all Sportsters. If you want to get on a real big twin, take a look at the prices of Dyna Low Riders in your local used bike listings. Brand new these are $15,000 at your local dealer, but used ones can be had for $10,000 or even less depending on year and condition. Before 2007 you aren't going to get fuel injection, but for many people that is more of a plus than a minus, though you also get the smaller 88ci motor. The current 2017 model is not much different from the 2014 model, so finding a clean one that is a few years old is a great way to get on a Dyna big twin.
