750 Street Rood

When Harley-Davidson unveiled their 750 line up we all knew what the marketing department had in mind. Targeting the urban rider, and in an effort to expand the company's market share the 750 was not really designed as a "performance bike"

750 On Ice

The Street Rod 750 was definitely designed for, among others, the European market, however, we did not expect to see it, on Ice. Europeans, more specifically Italians call it "the best-looking dirt track" - covered in in ice. We have known Harley-Davidson to be looking to expand to different markets and I suppose that this is one way to do it.

Snow Quake, Italy

Snow Quake, held on January 21st, 2018 is a custom-bike race (by invitation only), held every year on the Italian Alps. As far as Europeans are concerned; winter, no problem. The event has several races, each with its own technical class, requirements, and specifications.

8 750's On The Track

Snow Quake is a fairly new event, only three years running. The event, however, is catching on in popularity, at least enough for Harley-Davidson to graciously put up eight 750's on the snowy flat track this year. According to the company, the SR 750 has already distinguished itself with a stellar flat track record and there are "high expectations" for its performance at Snow Quake.

Proven On Dirt

A Cycle World journalist remarked that "Getting the power to the ground off the starting line was one of those most challenging parts of riding a Street Rod on ice. The rear tire spun through first and second gears before I managed to get anywhere. After all, I was riding a Harley-Davidson for the first time, in the Italian Alps, on the ice."

Classes

Snow Quake 2018 kicked off with three race classes; Snow Pro, Vintage, and Inappropriate Class. If you are wondering what the last class is, well, it is exactly what it means. These are nearly un-modified bikes that should have no business on the ice but makes it for great racing. There is no cover charge so if you can make it to Italy during January make sure you go check it out.
