Slight Delay

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause all sorts of delays in terms of vehicle production, and Harley-Davidson isn't immune to this problem. Unfortunately, that now seems to have affected the launch of the all-new Bronx Streetfighter, which was revealed last November and originally scheduled to enter production in 2020 for the 2021 model year.

Late or Gone?

A recent report from Motorcycle.com notes that Harley-Davidson won't be introducing the Streetfighter in 2020 or 2021. And in fact, it speculates that the model may have been canceled altogether, as MoCo has erased all mentions of the bike from its web site.

Change Focus

For its part, H-D has confirmed that the Streetfighter isn't happening next year as originally planned. Instead, it's placing all of its focus on the Pan America, another new model set to compete in the highly popular adventure bike segment.

Vague Response

When asked about the Bronx at Harley's second-quarter presentation, Chief Executive Officer Jochen Zeitz was quite vague. "I think that at this time, adventure-touring will be the focus going into next year," he said. "Other product line related decisions, we will be revealing in real-time, so it’s not something we can or want to talk about at this time."

Different Story

However, Motorcycle.com reached out to H-D and received the following response to their inquiry. "Harley-Davidson’s immediate new product focus in 2021 will be on the launch of Pan America, our first Adventure Touring motorcycle. In order to ensure an outstanding launch for Pan America, we will not be launching the Bronx Streetfighter motorcycle next year."

Making Sense

Those responses certainly clarify that the Streetfighter has officially been delayed, but they also don't confirm that it hasn't been canceled altogether, either. If it was still going to launch at some point, it would make sense to leave information about the model upon Harley's site.

Clarity Needed

Perhaps dropping the Bronx is part of Zeitz's new brand strategy that he calls Hardwire, or maybe the company has just decided to focus on one new model at a time. Regardless, it would be nice if they would provide some sort of clarity on the situation.
