Going to the Club

There are more than a few folks in the Harley-Davidson community that miss the departed Dyna. But H-D absorbed the beloved bike into the Sportster lineup when it rolled out the 2018 models, making the Dyna a thing of the past. So what's a fan of "club style" bikes like the Dyna and FXR to do? Well, you do the next best thing and transform a new Softail Street Bob into a club style bruiser. And that's exactly what Hot Bike Magazine did with this incredibly cool build!

Superior DNA?

Interestingly enough, even though most of us love the Dyna, Hot Bike actually prefers the new Softail on the streets. “I am not going to mince words here," said HB's Jeff Holt. "Yes, the new lean-framed Softails (not the Breakout or Fat Boy with the wide-tire frame) rode better than any stock-model Dyna I have ridden. Does it handle better than any stock FXR I have ridden? Yes, it does.”

We Be Clubbin'

So what, exactly, does the Street Bob need to be considered a Club Style bike? Well, it needs a quarter fairing, for starters. HB slapped one of those on the Softail using some aftermarket brackets, then installed some T-bars that are close in size to the original mini-apes so they could retain the factory wiring.

Filling out the Checklist

You can't have a Club Style bike without some sort of big, step-up two-up seat. So they ditched the stock seat in favor of a Harley-Davidson Badlander. And of course, every good club style bike has to be completely blacked out. But the beauty of the Street Bob is that it already comes that way, so no extra work needed here!

Missing Piece

The final requirement for a Club Style bike? A good 2-into-1 exhaust. Unfortunately, Hot Bike couldn't snag one in time for their deadline thanks to the fact that they're currently on backorder. But there are other options out there if you don't want to go with H-D pipes.

Dash of Speed

Of course, you can't just build a cool bike like this one without adding a touch of performance. So Hot Bike dove into the Screamin' Eagle catalog and ordered up a Stage II Torque Kit, Extreme-Flow air cleaner, and Pro Street Tuner.

Finishing Touches

To top it all off, Hot Bike added a host of H-D parts including Defiance handgrips and pegs, LED Bullet Turn Signal Inserts, a Gloss Black Oil Cooler cover, and a Diamond Black Fuel Cap. All of which helps make this club style Street Bob almost make us forget about the Dyna. Almost!
