Softail Rocker

Whether Harley-Davidson is the ultimate motorcycle brand or the best known, there is no disputing the fact that one of the company's hottest and most sought-after bikes is the Softail Rocker, which was in production from 2005 to 2011. The Rocker is viewed as a feat of modern engineering. The motorcycle has a 240-millimeter tire that gracefully rolls out the back of the bike under a slammed fender. The fat rear tire is offset by a skinny 90 millimeter-wide, 19-inch front tire. This motorcycle is also known for having exceptional handling and being very comfortable to ride on long road trips. The bike has sold at an auction for as much as $130,000.

Hub-Less Harley

This bike is from the 1960's and, with its low slung seat and hub-less wheel, this bike certainly stands out. The bike is reportedly difficult to handle and is certainly not for any well-heeled Johnny-come-lately's who wish to buy a piece of cool without riding experience. The bike is nothing short of awesome and sold for a hefty $155,000!

7D Twin

This motorcycle opened at $300 but eventually went for $187,000 by the time the auction was over. The 1911 7D had the difference of having its own frame, which was different from the single-cylinder models from that same year as well as that from the year before. The bike is only one of four first-year creations to be in existence that has a 1912 front fender.

Pope Dyna Super Glide

Screen printed with a signature from Pope Francis, this motorcycle went up at Bonham Paris for auction and sold for $275,551. There's a white "Francesco" next to the gas tank that the new owner can glance at while sitting at a stop light, or ponder if the presence of the holy item will benefit in afterlife bonus points.

Fl Panhead

This 1959, owned by rocker Jerry Lee Lewis, went out at Mecum's auction in Florida and roll off the stage to the gravel closing sound of $385,000. The bike was thought to be able to hit the million-dollar marker but fell short of that goal. The FLH motorcycle was a gift to Jerry Lee Lewis from Harley-Davidson and the artist was present at the auction when it was sold.

Strap Tank

This is a complete unrestored 1907 Strap Tank that went for auction at Mecum and fetched $715,000. This 440cc motorcycle carries the numbering 2037, which means it was the 37th bike produced in 1907 and the 94th motorcycle created, and that's counting the two prototypes Harley made. Besides those bullet points, the other things that pushed this particular model to that high price were its nature of being unmolested and a testament to the build quality of the Davidson Brothers and William Harley.

Cosmic Starship

This custom made custom-made "Cosmic Starship" went at auction for a cool million dollars. This is just as much a piece of art as it is a terrific motorcycle, as it was painted by famed modern existential artist Jack Armstong and is equipped with a six-cylinder engine. This creation is a 1-of-1 that is just as special to motorcycle enthusiasts as it is to fine art collectors.

Captain America Easy Rider

This bike which purportedly was the one used in the film Easy Rider, sold at an auction for $1.35 million, even though the authenticity of the bike was not made official. The iconic motorcycle was featured in the tale of debaucherous drug smuggling with prostitution and violence sprinkled in for flavor.

Softail Slim S Blue Edition

With a value of approximately $1.79 million USD, this diamond-encrusted Blue Edition is based on the Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S but with a complete makeover produced collaboratively with Swiss watch and jewelry company Bucherer. The frame of the motorcycle is welded seamlessly, and even the rims are custom made. Notable design elements include its rotating camshaft visible through a window in the camshaft housing, along with the valve control and gold-plated throttle valves. Heat-resistant LED lights are implemented for a modern touch, and it’s also the world’s first motorcycle to have a motor that is lit up from the inside.
