Built on a budget

National Custom Tech didn't have a lot of time, and they had to build the bike on a small budget because the bike was to be given away in a raffle during the 20th Anniversary of European Bike Week.

The technology of the bike is already top-notch from the factory, so Motodrom H-D wanted NCT to basically just give the bike a makeover. Leaving the wheels, suspension, and brakes as-is, NCT focused their efforts on the bike's bodywork, instead. They hand-built a new tank, tail section, front fender and side covers to give it a racy new look, that was sure to be an attention grabber.

Custom sheet metal

The hallmark of the fabrication is the tank, as it gave NCT the starting point for their build and was the most labor-intensive piece of the build. Once the tank was set, NCT went to work on the rear frame section. They cut and looped it so that the new rear fender cowl would sit neatly on the steel frame. Inside the cowl, they installed a slim LED taillight that offers good visibility and a clean look. Between the custom built rear cowl and tank, the stock vinyl seat was stripped, reshaped and then recovered in genuine cowhide.

Clean and uncluttered

NCT chose to leave the stock headlight, but they trashed the mini-cowl to give it a stripped-down street-fighter look. They installed a new set of front and rear turn signals, courtesy of Kellerman. Two of the signals are situated behind the rear shocks for the tailgaters and two up front on the bar-ends…because bar-end stuff is just plain trick. They also trashed the stock handlebars in favor of a new set from LSL.

Attitude adjustment

Next up to get chopped up was the bulky, over-sized stock muffler. It was trimmed down and re-fitted for a slimmer look that better fit the bike’s new attitude. They also adjusted the forks, ever so slightly, to give the bike a more aggressive stance.

Color me…turquoise?

Once the look was achieved, it was time to pick a color fitting of such a machine. NCT decided on a classic turquoise to help set it apart from all the other beautiful machines at the 2017 European Bike Week…after all, it was built for a raffle, so it needed to grab attention.

Even though this bike was built under serious time constraints and budget limitations, the folks at NCT pulled it off in time for it to be given away at the 20th Anniversary of European Bike Week. Someone went home very happy.

I’ve never been to European Bike Week…hell, I’ve never been to Europe, but one thing I can say with confidence is that motorcycles are truly the universal machine. It doesn’t matter what continent you call home, or what language you speak, you can always find camaraderie among other bikers. With each country comes a slightly different style that is unique to that country's culture. National Custom Tech builds bikes in a style that is unique to them and their home country of Austria and, just like the custom Superglide that I featured in a previous article, this custom Street 750 is a truly unique example of their fabrication and customizing skills.
