Craziest concept ever?

Wild and crazy custom bikes are nothing new. In fact, you can't throw a rock without hitting one these days. Motorcycles just make great canvases for artists, and artists can't stop building them. Thus, it takes something extra special to stand out from that rather large crowd. And the TMC Dumont is exactly that, and probably more.

Star-studded builder

Suffice to say, this crazy bike wasn't built by your average dude, either. Tarso Marques is a former Formula 1 driver and a four-time custom motorcycle build-off champion. The native Brazilian obviously doesn't build anything "normal," but this particular creation still stands out from the rest.

Motorcycle from the future

If you didn't know any better, you'd think this bike was just some movie prop for another futuristic sci-fi flick. But it actually goes, and it goes rather well. Those hubless wheels are the most obvious talking point, but there's more to this build than that.

Fast... in a straight line

Mostly because, well, the TMC Dumont is powered by nothing less than an airplane engine. More specifically, a 1960s-era Rolls Royce Continental V6 churning out around 300 hp. That's more than enough to turn the massive 36-inch tires, even if we aren't sure how this thing handles corners.

Rolling art... literally

In all fairness, that isn't what the TMC Dumont is all about, however. This is more of a rolling piece of art, one that you wouldn't expect to even be driveable. But it is, in fact, and that makes it even cooler than it already is.

Inspired by a hero

And in case you were wondering where this bike's unusual name came from, it was inspired by Brazilian hero Alberto Santos-Dumont. The aviation pioneer is famous for helping to contribute to the development of both "lighter-than-air" and "heavier-than-air" aircraft over the course of his lifetime.

Award Winner

Unsurprisingly, the TMC Dumont is already racking up accolades. Most prominently, it scored "Best in Show" at this year's Daytona Bike Week. And you can bet there'll be plenty of additional hardware coming in the near future.
