U.S. Airman Wins Softail Deluxe on Armed Forces Day (photos)
A military member who just happens to get a new Harley on Armed Forces Day is quite the happy coincidence.
1. An unexpected surprise
Harley-Davidson gives away a new motorcycle every month in a contest that it runs for their VISA card called the Free Ride Sweepstakes. This month's winner, Brian Bond, found out that he was the recipient of a new motorcycle while he was deployed overseas. Upon learning that he won the contest, Bond remarked that "I've never really won anything much more than like a plastic cup or something like that."
2. How to Brian won
Each time someone uses their Harley-Davidson VISA card to make a purchase, they are instantly entered into the sweepstakes. Even though Bond only sporadically used the card it was enough to get him the win. "I've used it off and on randomly since I've had the card for gas, groceries," he said. Fittingly, Brian received his new air-cooled V-Twin engined 2017 Softail Deluxe on Armed Forces Day at its Tifton Georgia location.
3. That's a sweet new ride
Eric Sternberg, one of the store's owners, loves that the bike went to someone who has devoted themselves to keeping all of us and our liberties safe. "It's really phenomenal that a person that's in our active military, who's so deserving, actually won that motorcycle," said Sternberg. Brian already has a bike, but is plenty excited to have his hands on a new one in which to tool around Moody Air Force Base, where he's stationed. The bike comes with beautiful whitewall tires, chrome laced wheels, and full-skirted metal fenders.
4. How you can win
During the Armed Forces Day event at Tifton Harley-Davidson, military members, first responders, and veterans were all honored at the location. "We just want to honor them today and every day," said administrative assistant Kayla Smith. "We just wanted to do something a little bit special for them."
