What Are We Working On? - The Projects of HDForum Members

Harley guys like to tinker, that is part of the reason you buy a Harley-Davidson, but surprisingly enough not all of their projects are from the Motor Company. In fact, some of their projects aren't even motorcycles.

1. Lawson_Inc's Stanced Radio Flyer Wagon

If you go to car/bike shows, or swap meets, you understand the need for a "little red" wagon. Of course, men being men, it didn't take long for them to start customizing and modifying their wagons to match their taste in cars or bikes. Lawson_Inc took a Radio Flyer 90 wagon, welded up a lowered chassis for it complete with cambered out wheels, and covered it all in Harley black and orange. You can get all the details on this thread.

2. SixDD's Kawasaki ZRX-1200R

This seems like the antitheses of what an American cruiser fan would like, but they say it takes all kinds. What does the big, retro, Kawasaki ZRX-1200R have in common with a Harley? Big motor torque from the bottom to the top. SixDD didn't have too much to do, just the typical cleaning and replacing rubber bits after this bike sat for years looking pretty but not getting ridden. You can follow his step by step resurrection process on this thread.

3. Xerofokus's Iron 883

Right at the start, xerofokus admits that this is his first Harley and his first motorcycle build, but it sure doesn't look that way. Possibly the reason for that is his fully equipped metal fabrication shop with a plasma cutter, lathe, welders, etc. He started with one of the most basic of Sportsters, but his quality fabrication sets this one apart. You can see all of his progress in this build thread.

4. Calvelli's Custom Bike Trailer

No matter how hardcore you are, occasionally your bike has to be trucked or trailered. Calvelli took a simple utilitarian trailer meant for hauling a stump grinder and added decks and a wheel chock to make the perfect one bike hauler. You can see more pictures and other members trailer projects on this thread.

5. Phidaux's Honda Valkyrie

Some people like the rumble of a V8, but there are those that prefer the whir of a Porsche 911, and if the Harley V-twin is the former, the Honda flat six is the latter. Even among Harley riders, there is respect for the big and beautiful Honda Goldwing, especially the GL1800. In the late 90s, Honda decided to sweet talk the big girl into getting naked, and the Valkyrie was born. Before her debut, she hit the gym, lost 100lbs, and gained some power, for an even 100 hp at the wheel. Phidaux has gone further with his "fat girl" and bobbed the fenders, ditched the passenger seat, and added some open exhausts to let her sing. More pictures are on his build thread.

6. Mud's Scratch Built Tiny Motorcycle

This seems like kind of a sad story because, after months of work and updates, the thread just dies. It was titled "this is what happens when you don't have a job" so perhaps Mud found one and had to stop tinkering? Click the link and check out his step by step progress on a motorcycle that is just a little over a foot long.

7. Basic's 1951 Chevy Lead Sled

Harley's and custom cars go together like peas and carrots, and Basic's traditional 1951 Chevy sedan is the perfect compliment to any meal. Lowered, with a custom suspension, it rides on air bags so it can rise up and move out when it needs to. Under the hood is the original stovebolt six, hooked to a three on the tree, because this is about looking cool not winning races. You can see more pictures and some of his other projects here.
