Default Tank Emblem Removal

Anyone have advice on how to remove the tank emblem from a street glide? Once removed will there be new painting required?

do not use a guitar string like some one told my friend .......what a disaster......I pryed mine off gently with a plastic knife but there are most likely other tools you could use. I did destroy the medallion though. Guess I wasn't gentle enough.I don't think you will need to paint....at least I didn't need to. Hope this helps.

I used dental floss.Just sawed between the emblem and the foam tape, leaving the tape on the tank. Then I just rolled the tape from one end.A little clean up of whatever was left over and it looked like there was never anyhting there.

Heat with a hairdryer and you should be able to pull the emblem off. It worked for the reflectors on my rear crash bars. You can then use a little "GOO GONE", liquid car wax or such to remove the glue residue.

Should be no need to repaint unless the bike has been in the weather a lot and the paint is faded where the emblem is not and new where the emblem was.

F.U.I.R.S. and billnourse are on the money! You can even use monofilament line, roll off the remaining debri and wipe down with alcohol, if you leave it bare or relace with a different item be sure to wax the finnish back up after your done.
