Harley-Davidson Victorious at Flat-Track Racing

AMA Pro Racing GNC Half Mile, Lima, OH 6-28-2015

Flat-Track racing used to be huge in this country.  A long time ago, before the age of superbikes, MotoGP, and other forms of motorcycle racing, flat-track racing was king. It pitted amazingly skilled riders against one another on the dirt, racing with mind blowing machines inches away from one another, and often sideways.

Nowadays, flat-track racing isn’t as popular, but that hasn’t stopped Harley from sponsoring up and coming riders, as well as the bikes they ride. This year, Harley is looking for blood, and in the last race of the AMA Pro Harley-Davidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines Flat-Track Series, Harley’s own Screamin’ Eagle Factory Team rider Brad Baker led the race to victory.

In the series, Baker riders an XR750 motorcycle, and in the last race he led 21 laps of the 25 total, absolutely dominating the event. Not only that, he also posted the fastest lap in qualifying, and won the bonus race.

It was his first win of the season, and had this to say after, “My Harley-Davidson was fast and set up perfectly for this track, thanks to all the hard work by the Factory Harley-Davidson crew,” said Baker, who had not won previously at Lima. “The Lima half-mile will test your fitness and your courage. I just put the hammer down and stuck to my line. This is one of the most satisfying wins of my career.”

The next race is July 4th at Du Quoin Mile at the State Fairgrounds in Du Quoin, IL, so if you’re in the area, head down to the Fairgrounds and check out the old school racing format in person.
