How much does Sturgis cost?
I'm planning to attend next year and could use a little help in planning a budget for the trip. So what are the reasonable costs involved in attending the rally? you know lodging, food, and other expenses.
My current plan is to arrive with all my credit cards ready to be maxed out, and have all my money there as well...

It all depends where you are coming from and where you plan on staying. I camped at No Name campground, a nice quiet place you can sleep for just a couple hundred bucks Slept in a tent), I spent about 700 on gas riding there and around. Ate for about 30 bucks a day, and spent about 200 on shirts and trinkets. If you stay in a hotel and eat pricy meals it can be more. Depending on your drinking habits, you can go broke, really a hard question to answer.

Hey, I was in the campground right next door to No Name, Katmandu. Did you do alright with the hail?
As has been said, it will depend on where you are staying and what you plan to do. I did not drink much, spent most of my time riding. I rode out 1800 miles and spent about
140$ in gas each way. I camped on the way out and way back, I figure about 20$ a nightx6, or 120$. My campsite at Sturgis cost me ......well I cannot really remember but it was under 200$ for the week. I bought odds and ends while I was there, shirts, parts for the bike, riding gear etc but that was not required. I would guess I spent about 900$ total, but I could have done it for much less if I wanted to.

My budget is 100 buck a day. If the OL comes with me I double that. That is not counting fuel and lodging. I usually end up back home with a weeks worth of grocery money left in my pocket.

Cost of Sturgis
10 day trip including travel time from NW Louisiana and return and riding in the Black Hills (3300 miles). Stayed at Elk View Campground (Tent). Total cost: $750. Spent about $500 prior to the trip for new tires and install. Did my own lube job for around $65 (I use Royal Purple). Managed to get by on $20 to $25 per day for food. Spent about $100 on T shirts. Stayed two nights in motel going to Sturgis and 1 night on the return trip. Estimate cost for th 10 day trip: $750.00. Forgot, bought a full face helmet for $250.00. I was glad I did when I was faced with hail and rain in Sturgis. You will need a quality rain suit!!!!
All depends on where you stay and what you eat and drink and spend of trinkets. I would say at least $1000 would cover your costs depending on the distance you are traveling.

Plan on spending at least $100 a day while you are there (beer and food).
If you are planning on going to one of the big venues (like Buffalo Chip) then plan on spending alot for camping and such.
I stayed at a liitle campground in Tilford and it cost about $14 a night for a tent site. They have a little bar, clean showers, and the American Legion is right down the road for good vittles.

I rode my Ultra from San Antonio, TX and back. 2 days to get there (rode hard & fast) 3 days to get back. Spent Mon, Tues, Wed in Sturgis area. With fuel, motels, goodies and meals, I spent about $1,200.00. No drinking, just did not have time, went riding every day. Had a ball! Really need about 12 days to do it anyway near right. I took three days to catch-up when I got home. The guys at work didn't cut me any slack. did aprx 3800 miles total.

4,152 miles round trip from Northern VA on a Wide Glide! At 40 mpg, that's roughly 100 gallons of fuel.
Tent camping (Creekside) was $15 per night.
The rest is up to you. Can you get by with chow from the street vendors or 3 coarse meals?
Shirts and such? Beer? Concert tickets?

Our campground was 20.00 a nite, cheaper if you stay a week and pay for a week. Decent food at the cook shack, beer not to bad. I always figure a hundered dollars a day per person. That's not including tee's and such. 62.50 for our concert tickets. You can go really cheap if you want or really expensive if you want. Baseman our campground boarders the one you stayed at. Maybe next year a quick meet and greet,WR.
