Sportster 48 2010 GAS tank Question
All,
New HD owner here and Fing excited about it! Just bought a 2010 48 from a fellow Airborne Paratrooper here at Fort Bragg and it is a beauty. Already has:
V&H Short Shot Exhaust
V&H Fuel Pak
K&N Heavy Breather
Drag Bars
and many other little extras
I just bought a coil/ignition relocation kit from DK Custom Products and am super stoked to install it. I also got the 2 in tank lift as well. I never even thought of how much fuel potential I would lose...
So question...How many miles does the 48 get stock and how much will i get if I do the work I have listed? I love the shape of the peanut tank so would there be another tank that matches this one but just more fuel capacity? What are my options guys
Any info would be great.

Hey, great looking ride, i plan to put drag bars on my 48, could you tell me if the drag bars were a straight forward install or you had to put some riser or spacer in between, and what about the the indicators, does removing them cause any problem, i know it gives error code but any thing else

There is quite a bit of information on gauges, fuel capacity and range and how they are affected by tank lifts at this link-
http://www.facebook.com/DKCustom#!/t...80401&topic=99
Short Answer-on your 48 with a 2" lift it will reduce your range by 5-10 miles, IF you are running your tank dry right now. If you are not, then it will have no practical affect/reduction.
The 3.3 gallon tank found on most other sportys is a peanut tank and will fit on your 48. There are quite a few pics of 48's with Nightster 3.3 gallon tanks at this link- www.facebook.com/DKCustom

Hey guys... I'm am new to the forum and a new motorcycle rider... I've I just got my first bike, a 48! Only slight complaint I have is the size of the gas tank and the limited range. Other then that I love it!
It seems like the gas light comes on, I pull over and it only takes 1.3ish gallons of gas. Does that mean the light comes on when there is just under half a tank left?
Still trying to get an idea of the range.
Thanks for any advice.
