Daytona, Stolen Bike Week.
Who has had their bike stolen from a Bike Event?
Mine was stolen Biketoberfest 2000. Brand New FLSTF. Twin Cam B, first year. Paid cash.
1200 Miles. Parked 1 block off main for 45 minutes. Backed in next to my Bud's, Locked and Forked.
Came back and another bike was parked where mine had been, As I realized mine was gone, a young man from Ohio noticed his gone also, parked about 6 bikes down the line.
We walked together to the police station, 4 others in front of us, the Police said there had been 30 bikes stolen in 2 days, mostly Brand new Softails.
Thank good for insurance, spent the next 2 days on a rented scooter and had a blast, caught a ride home with some friends.
Never found the bike and insurance paid off in 45 days. Bought a nice FXR and a Valkyrie with the cash.
So, I cant be the only one, whats your story?

I've never had such fancy digs that they have been stolen but a guy I worked with once had a bike stolen from a storage unit. Apparently, they had cut the fence to the lot then backed a truck up to the slit, then pilfered the units late at night & got quite a haul.
He came out okay because he was insured but...what do you expect, society sucks sometimes.

I've never had a bike stolen, but my brother-in-law, living in Washington State had someone cut a hole in the back of his garage and wheel out the bike and his welder. He must sleep pretty hard.

WOW - thanks for the WARNING !
Must be organized ?
I wonder if Lo-Jack (or similar) would have worked / and maybe found all those bikes (in a group storage) ? or Lo-Jack is just BS ?

Happens at all major events even little chicken **** one day deals Like Holister Ca. and over in Modesto for Graffiti night , they'll lose 8-10 a day . Now the old iron has gotten so popular again I avoid those places , insurance can't replace my bike even if they wanted too .

That really sucks. Oh well, I don't like crowds anyway. Guess I won't be going to any of those shindigs now.

I had a '96 Fat Boy stolen at the Laughlin River Run in '98. Had it parked over night in the Casino/Hotel parking lot right next to hundreds of other bikes. When I reported it, the police said that over 15 bikes had been stolen that year.
Lesson learned: cable lock your bike to another bike. Use at least two cables. Make it harder to steal than the next guy's bike.
