Default Blank Slate. Help me do it right!

just like the title says. I just scored a '96 FLHTP for $1500. Its my first bagger, so I wanna put a bitchin' system in it. I just want to know whats the general consensus for it. With that being said, before everyone grabs their torches and riots, Ill try and answer some of the most noob-y questions everyone forgets in the beginning.

-'96 FHLTP
-nothing has been added, its bone stock
-budget: Preferably $800-900 max
-install will be done by me, so labor cost is not a factor except for the cost of beer I will charge myself. The wife and the 6yo daughter provide sammichs from time to time.
-no lowers, and I dont want to replace lids. I only want fairing speakers
-has anyone ever put speakers in the bottom gauge mounts on a Police edition? waste of time and effort?
-I want loud at 75-80. Not parking lot-trailer queen-block party bagger loud. Preferably where the wife on the back can hear, but this isnt a HUGE issue since she doesnt ride all the time.

thanks for the help everyone!

Another thing, if you don't have hand controls, tell them. You won't need the interface module and that will save cash too. Not sure if the wiring is there to add it. You would just need to do a little more wiring for the power.

It would have been a value to me if I would have started with Biketronics to begin with instead of spending money on other stuff. But that's my opinion.

If you want less expensive, you can get a basic install kit since you don't need a hand control interface module and put in any head unit you want. You can also go with a pbr300x2 amp and either the BT 7.1" speakers, or Infinity 60.11i's with arc audio adaptor rings. You could probably do the whole thing for under $500.

Many ways to go.

Yes, the BT amp and 7.1 speakers will be heard at 80mph, even with loud pipes and is basically "plug and play".

Even if you want to run a different amp, I would recommend BT's 7.1 speaker.
