I recently put a new petcock on my 87 883 sportster, I have a hard time turning the fuel off and on, is it possible there is gunk in the turning part of it, I also lost all my fuel when it was in the off position thru the overflow hose. I put more fuel in it and it wouldn't start, so I then pulled the fuel line going to the petcock let some gas out reinstalled the fuel line and it started right up, this happened two time's already. Is it possible rust had gotten in the fuel line to the petcock, or paint flecks in the gas tank, and can I put a gas filter to the petcock on the fuel line to petcock? I guess there is a gas filter in the gas tank itself, but I would like to add one outside the bike also.
