Smile BDL Competitor vs Rivera vs Barnett Scorpion

I'm new to posting on this forum although I look up tech tips and products here regularly. I built a bike with a clutch slipping problem. I have an old Shovel style belt primary and run dry clutches in a 4 speed basket that just can't hold the power. Both Barnett Scorpion and Rivera are meant to be run wet, the BDL Competitor can run dry but has far less friction plate area. Pushing 121 torque I can currently over run my clutch at will in 3rd and 4th gear. I was hoping one of you might give me your opinion on the matter.

Thanks, Joel

I use BDL belt drives only,,,have 3 of them ..I can't see you bike makin enuff power to make them slip...Rivera is good clutch set up too,,its also a dry clutch,,but I do not like diaphram springs,,,I believe that bandit clutches are being made overseas now due to the drastic price drop,,they use to cost around $1000.00 now $500-$600 ,,,Also not sure what you mean that BDL has less friction area??? Have you ever seen an evo clutch???? BDL clutches can use as little as 4 springs and up to 12 for pressure..A lot of guys will soak their dry clutch plates in tranny fluid over night then dry in paper bag before install...Have you had your clutch checked out,,new discs,, glazed over,,wrong discs improper adjustment??? Your making good power but its not that high,,when you get to the 150 HPand 180 TQ thats when clutch like to burn and let go..

bandits are USA made in Pa.By far the best clutch on the market, second to none.primo & BDL are ok for street HP,but would never hold real HP.the superclutch is around a 1000.00,their sportsman clutches are 500-600

I currently run a shovelhead style open belt primary with a 10 finger hub, recently went to heavy duty springs, not much better hold. This winter I am upgrading to one of the three. The BDL boasts 60% more surface friction area than stock, and both Barnett Scorpion and Rivera Pro claim over 100%. The Bandit looked pricey and complicated for a dry clutch when I looked it up. The stock set up is ok for cruising, but I can overpower it at any speeds over 40mph without really trying. See pics

It says on the Bandit web page it is not available for 4 speed kick start rachet top. Ironic, since the same company made my transmission. RevTech
