Yes Sir, it could have been. I'm just glad nothing happened and that I'm able to get the word out.

Hi
Just registered to this forum after reading your post and seeing the pictures of your spitfire frame! Do you have any pictures of the repair as i have just purchased a 2009 spitfire myself as a bit of a resteration project as it has been a bit neglected! i noticed that mine has already had some gussets welded in the place where the crackes are on your pictures. I intend to strip the frame and have it re powder coated. Are these the only weak points on this frame as far as you know?

Regards Tom

Hi Tom. Sorry for the super late response to your question as I haven't checked this thread in a good while. As far as weak points, yes, those are the only ones that I'm aware of. Since the repair weld, it has held up well. Go luck with yours.

I own a 04 Thunder Mountain "Gunnison" and it also developed cracks in the frame below the neck, on both down tubes!! I had a frame shop tig weld the 3 areas before I rode it again. I strongly suggest if you value your life behind ur handlebars like I do, look ur Thunder Mountain frames over real good!!

Has anyone else had any other areas of cracking in frame other than in the rear where subframe bolts on? it seems this would be relatively easy to fix but cracks in the front frame is another way more serious matter and not an easy fix
