Default 2008 FXDL 30,000 miles, any issues to look for?

I'm going to have a look at a red '08 FXDL with 30,000 miles on it. I would normally look for one with lower mileage, but this one is set up exactly as I'd like (windshield, bags, sissy bar/rack, forward controls, stage 1). The only thing I don't like about it is Short Shots, but that's an easy change.

Anything I should be concerned about at 30,000 miles (47,000 km). With the way it's set up, and with our short seasons up here in the frozen north, I assume they are pretty well all highway miles.

There is one other one available locally, also an '08, with only 5,000 miles on it. But it doesn't have forwards, sissy bar/rack, or stage 1, and it's in Purple Haze. I don't think I could get my head around riding a purple bike.

I think I could get either at about the same price.

the silver flames are a nice touch.

I don't know, maybe I'd get used to Purple. Very low mileage on that one. But by the time I added forwards, sissy bar/rack, stage 1 with tuner, I'm probably about $1500 higher than the other one.

Is it worth $1500 for the lower mileage?

I'd be more concerned about how much the guy messed with either and if they knew what they were doing. Mileage not so much.

both seem quite clean, both were owned by women. No changes other than bolt ons as far as I know.

Can chain tensioners usually fail around 30k. Make sure to at least inspect them. They are known as the "silent killer". If they fail while you are riding you just bought a new engine. Just my $.02.

Thanks. I was under the impression the new ones were good for about 50K.
If I buy it, I'll make sure to inspect them.

Cam chain tensioners is the main thing. It averages to around 30 but before 40...riding style, warm-ups, and oil/changes have some effect, but, none stop it, just slow the process....so, set aside some money for a gear drive.

Pics are cool....(*hint hint*)

I think I'd just replace the tensioners if needed, rather than switch to a gear drive.

Pics? sure (big pic of the red one, small pic of the purple.)
