Dealer Voids Engine Warranty
Long story short I purchased a new 2014 wide glide 2 weeks ago at a dealer. When you buy a bike from them they offer free shop labor at the time of purchase. I had a few things put on, then i picked out vance-hines big shots with quit baffles and stay with stock air cleaner. Thats when they tell me i have to install a harley tuner or they will not cover engine warranty and i would have to sign papers stating that. I think there nuts.

They can't void your warranty, don't sign ****! They would have to PROVE the modification you made caused a problem in the motor if a situation were to arise. About your other question, everyone says no you don't need a tuner with just exhaust but after swapping my stock 14 low rider exhaust out with short shots the bike seemed a lot more lean. I mean the bikes come lean and if you get rid of the cat they stuff in there you are flowing a lot more exhaust out of the motor. I picked up a tuner to be on the safe side and then added a big sucker as well.

Bingo. This is exactly correct. By signing the document you may well give up your warranty in a situation in which what you are doing doesn't really void the warranty. The dealership is trying to rip you off.

Never heard of a dealer trying to void a warranty or trying to get you to sign something saying the parts the dealer installs will void the warranty. I deal with three dealers and all three say they will warranty the bike but not aftermarket parts installed by them or me. As long as it's a factory part and not damaged by obivious abuse. That's pretty cut and dry.
