Default Ugly Leather Trim on my Fatbob Tank

I really want to get rid of the ugly leather trim on my 09 Fatbob. Someone told me they used a trim from a wide glide (i think). Part # 71282-0. He swears it fits, but dealer said it would not. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with getting rid of that ugly trim.

I have this one part #91621-07, I think it looks OK.

That looks really cool. However, what could possibly fit in that little pocket?

Your right, it doesn't hold much. I usually have my registration and key fob in there, no room for much else.

That's what I use it for, I soldered wires to the clicker and installed a push button on the console.

I hate that thing too. I like the look of the new dash. I considered getting the new dash panel and gauge housing but I don't think the mounting holes will line up with the older tank. I ran into a similar issue when I tore my bike apart last winter, but that's a story for another time....

I'm confused about what makes the FB leather trim any different or uglier than the trim on any of the other bikes.

Is it big enough for a pair of sunglasses?
