Default Just purchased my first Dyna

After a month of back and forth, looking at various models, today I just bought my first HD. Found a 2008 FXD with 3800 miles that a Chevy dealer took on a trade. Pretty much bone stock, except for SE pipes. Told them I wanted it ice cold when I got there. Looked it over, no leaks, no corrosion, cherry. Flipped it on, and it chattered and wouldn't turn over. Dead battery. They said it had been sitting a while. Jumper box' d it and fired up on the second turn. Sweet sound, no smoke, seemed perfect. Going back on Friday to pick it up, and will take it for a ride before finalizing. Clean carfax. Looks like a great deal at $7k

Very psyched.

Looks like a very nice ride. Also a nice price! Don't think you will lose anything on it as long as you don't go crazy with chrome and add-ons.

Enjoy!

Congrats on your first Harley - for many once you get it into your veins - you're hooked for life

Good price. I actually paid a bit more from a private party for the same bike last Summer.

I was afraid when I saw your post. I dropped a mag light on my last bike's gas tank - I recommend you don't drop a hammer.

Congrats! Sounds like a good deal. I paid $8,500 for mine over a year and a half ago with almost 10,000 miles.

Thanks all. I'm pretty psyched. I'll be more psyched if I can get a couple of +45deg days to ride... First thing I need to do is wire in a plug for my heated jacket and gloves! I'll also get all the fluids changed so I have a starting point. Even with only 3k miles, I have no idea what's in there. Not to dare start an "oil thread" but my BMW S1000R got full synthetic at its 600mile service. I'll have to do a little research on the big twin break-in before I entertain synthetics.

Anyway, aside from the fluids, I am only wondering about one thing. It has Screaming Eagle slip ons, but what looks like a stock filter. From what I read, I shouldn't have lean condition problem if I put a HF air filter, as the EFI closed loop will adjust based on the O2 sensor, is that right?

Yeah, the forwards... I'm pretty sure I won't like them, but I'm going in with an open mind. I'll try 'em out for a while, and if I decide I don't like them, I'll change to mids. Shouldn't be too bad.

Since we're dreaming, my "one of these days" list.

7" headlight with hid or led element
Led tail and indicators
Better tires
Better seat
Better brake pads
T-Bars
Maybe bassani's or thunder headers or another good 2 into 1.
Saddle bags

Wow. Already...
