My '03 FXD (70,000 miles on the odometer) started leaking drops of oil from the outer primary.
Did a check using my phone and found this (see video below):


I guess time has come to do a complete overhaul for the shifter shaft seal, transmission oil seal, primary housing oil seals and bearings?

 

+1 on the shift shaft seal, that shaft rotates on every upshift and down shift on the bike I had the shop do mine twice, seems they scored the shaft once and caused the second leak. Then a couple of years ago I had the shift pawl changed, have to open the trans on that. Good luck my friend. Don't scratch any surfaces near that seal.

 

Hi Rene, Trans shaft oil seal is probably due for replacement.

 

While you already in there,replace all the seals..shifter shaft, starter Jack shaft seal,inner primary bearing seal and bearing.dont forget new inner primary o ring,outer primary gasket.
