Converting a non ABS wheel to ABS on 2025 FXDWG
Question 1 - my new 2015 Wide Glide. I want to install the 2000 Thunderstar front wheel from the Deuce.
What parts needed? Going from non ABS Deuce to an ABS Wide Glide.
Then, what about the rear wheel? I like the solid Deuce wheel, but in chrome or galvanized black chrome, or black. Such a wheel would also need to be converted to ABS hub. What is required?
I want to keep the OEM rear tire size of the 2015-WG

front: i would think the abs bearing on the left/primary side. i'm not sure if you will need to replace all the the bearings and sleeve anyway. i think so. hold tight for the wisdom of the forum
rear: no idea.. still abs bearing on the brake side though http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....0REAR%20(LACED). again, hold tight for the wisdom of the forum.
welcome back

You'll need an ABS bearing set, proper spacers, and new axel sleeve.
Part numbers, I have no idea. I don't believe ABS was an option in 2000, so I am sure there's no official literature for reference.
If I were tackling a project like this, I would start by figuring out the measurement differences between the stock, and ABS bearings. Once you have that, you can probely figure out spacers, and all the other hardware.

I will post what I find out. I have the 2000 Thunderstar for the Deuce, and that is what I will use on the front.
Missing the 2000 Deuce already.
I want to purchase a Deuce rear wheel. Chromed, stock, or powder coated. So, if someone here can shoot me a bead on a good Deuce wheel, let me know.
Love the 2015 Wide Glide, but regretting the sale of my 2000 Deuce. I don't have storage space for all the stuff I want.

The only "custom" work here is enlarging the center section of the wheels to allow for the larger 25mm axle/center spacer...otherwise "run of the mill"
*Either Use Install Kits:
Front with ABS #42400010
Rear with ABS #42400003
OR
*Buy some of the parts from Harley and get better bearings for the NON-ABS side. You can even re-use your existing 2015 FXDWG center spacers if desired
Those Kits (or some parts within...BEARING SHIM) allow you to put the earlier wheels on 08-later Dyna
You may want/need a hub cap and also a hub plate (depending on your rotor choice). Look at your Thunderstar and see if there are entry points around the hub for water intrusion.

Received the new chrome Deuce wheel for the back. The local HD dealership is swapping the rear tire over to the Deuce wheel, and installing the wheel. I had ordered the wheel bearing kit, but the shim in the kit was the wrong size needed. Shim ordered, with install promised mid next week.
My 2000 era 21" Thunderstar wheel on the front has become a more complex install. The HD website says the wheel works on both the 2000 Deuce and the 2015 Wide Glide; but, apparently, it is not a bolt on swap. The install kit I ordered was correct; however, the larger axel requires the axel hole to be bored to the correct size. The HD dealership has pass d on doing that operation.
I know a good machine shop about a hour ride away that works on motorcycles. They have done good part modification work for me in the past making incompatible parts become compatible.

They didn't offer anything on Dyna WG or Softails larger than 3/4" front axles until 2006 on Dyna WG (1") and 2007 Softails (25mm), so an early 2000 era Thunderstar would only be for 3/4"

Yep, that's correct...my prior statement:
The reason why the website says it will work is because you would be buying a "Current" wheel. They offer only the enlarged center section wheels to work with all axle sizes.
