Default Bags...

Well, one bag sorta done.... had to stop, fingers and hands were thrashed from hand stitching with waxed thread. Here's where I'm at:

First, I mocked up the bag in cardboard, to get the size and shape I wanted:

Transferred that to a small piece of paper to develop my main 'flat' piece:

Then of course the full piece of leather:

Punched the holes for my easy brackets:

Punched all the holes for stitching:

Couple of shots in progress of stitching:

Where I'm at now:

Still need to cut out and build the top lid, dye everything, seal the seams and coat the inside. Just had to stop there for the day. Hands look like raw meat

Damn you're quick!! It looks great so far. It was a nice ride down to Lewiston!! Hit a few logs on the boat though and my buddy ruined his prop.

That looks awesome! What's the cost for the leather for a project like that?

So I've had two sides of 12oz for about 8 years now. Figured it would be time to use them. I purchased them for 85 bucks each at the time. Now it don't take two whole sides to do this, but I had used part of one for another smaller project. You'll use probably 1 to 1.25 sides just because of weird shapes and leather anomalies. Just looked in my catalog, and a good side of saddle skirting is almost 200 bucks. Sometimes you can catch them on sale, for down to 130.

Completely spaced that you were going to be on the river. When I rode down to the river and then up to Clarkston last Thursday, the river had a crapload of logs and debris floating out in the main current. Was just weird. I just didn't think about that, or I woulda warned ya. Sorry about that.

Nah we knew they were they, he just wasn't paying attention. The damage was only from a 2inch diameter stick. There was people out the tubing and skiing, which I wouldn't do. Some logs were the size of the boat. Went up the spiral highway on the way home. A little more comfortable and did more scrapping. Still scary as hell though!
