My original Dunlop rear tire lasted all of 6511 miles before getting the second flat yesterday. With only a little tread left, went ahead and had it replaced with a Michelin M50 today. It feels noticeably grippier than the Dunlop ever did. Of course, I don't have a clue how the mileage will work out, but, it about has to exceed 6500 miles! The tread looks like it should ride at least as well as the Dunlop did in the rain.

I was between the 880's and Avon Venoms. Picked the 880's. From what I read, both are top shelf tires and you can't go wrong wither way.

I did notice a smoother ride after installing, but I think that's a combination of a few things. (new tires, 'better' tires, balanced tires, wheel alignment, psychological)

I will be needing tires before too long, 7000mi on the OEM's, I'm leaning toward the 880's,Motorcyle Superstore, free shipping, good price.

Keep in mind the original poster is talking about a Fat Bob.

The Fat Bob is kind of unique in the Dyna line, in that it has different tire sizes than any other Dyna.
180/70 16 Rear
130/90 16 Front

The Avon Cobra is a radial tire, and they don't make a size for the front.
Avon makes the Venom in the front size, but it's a bias ply tire. From what I understand, you shouldn't mix the two.

The same applies to the new Dunlop Elite 3, which only has a radial size for the rear and only a bias size for the front.

So, that leaves only 2 options for replacement tires for the Fat Bob.

1. Original factory Dunlop tires (only available through the dealer by the way)
2. Metzeler ME 880 Marathon comes in the correct size front and rear.

Those are the only two that I've found. Am I missing any?

What have other Fat Bob owners went with?
Remember, we have 16 inch rims front and back.

Another option is the 2010 Fatbob comes with the Michelin Scorcher tires not the Dunlop. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US.../fxdf/features

I have had the ME880's for about 3 months now and have found them to a great all around tire. They perform well both dry and wet conditions. Much better than the OEM.

interesting. michelin doesn't even have the FXDF version on their website. I wonder if you could order them from the dealer now and how much they would be.
