Default Drain on Battery

I just had V/H Big Radius pipes, SE Heavy Breather and a PCIII put on my bike and then had it dyno'd. After getting it home and off the truck I took it for a ride. To my suprise the check engine light and battery light came on. I stopped and took the seat off to see if I could see and wiring problems and found none. I started it back up and no lights so I took off and the lights again came on. I called the shop that did the work and they said that it was a history code and not a current code thats why the lights didn't come on immediately. I went out today after riding it the day before and the battery is drained. Any ideas? Could the PCIII be miss wired and causing a drain on the battery?

Is it the original battery? After 3 years, depending on how your ride, weather in your area, use of a battery tender, etc., you battery may just be history. I'd check that first before worrying about anything else.

Did you check the battery connections and make sure they were tight loose connections won't let all the juice go to the battery. If the battery was dead it's usually non recoverable, time for a change. If the shop disconnected during PC install, loose cables are possible.

I dunno about that... My battery COMPLETELY died on me and I put my trickle charger on it and let it charge at the 1.5v or whatever the harley one puts out for two weeks then rode to harley they tested and its still perfect... fast charging will usually kill cells but I've been told slow charges from drained can rejuvenate...

Had the battery full charged and rode around for an hour or so on Wed. and it sat all day Thur. because of rain and Friday it was DEAD. I bought the battery in 08 and I use a Harley Battery Tender. I checked the battery terminals and everything seems to be good (clean and tight.) I am going to get it in to a local battery shop and have them test the battery and to check and see if there is drawl on the battery from something. Let you all know what is up after taking it to get the battery tested.

Yup, sounds like a dead cell. Even good batteries can go bad if they hang with the wrong crowd.

Took the bike to a local battery specialist. Checked out the battery and it was fine also tested for a draw on the electical system and found nothing, he tested the output of the alternator for a charging current and it wasn't doing the job. Can there be a screw up in the wiring of the PCIII that was installed, or is the alternator shot? I was also told to check the fuses, but everything else is working. If I can't figure this out today it goes back to the shop tomorrow and another good warm sunny weekend shot. Off on T/W

Check your stator & Voltage regulator. BTW, the 06 dyna stator is a complete POS and should be replaced with a welded one like the 07 has.
