FXD ==> FXDL fuel tank conversion
I like the look of the tacho and speedo on the tank so I'm considering a FXD to FXDL fuel tank conversion on my Dyna 2003.
Any member out there who has FXDL tank, tacho and speedo/tacho mounting bracket (see image) laying around?

Hey man how's it going..? All is well I hope..I had mentioned the same conversion on here before.. I think it will look really cool.. Anyhow, I went to this cat's house the other day and looked at an lowrider tank he had for sale.. The dash mount ran the entire length of the tank, wrinkle black.. what surprised me was the interior lining was plastic moulded and the mounting bracket was moulded into this same piece, I have never seen this before.. Maybe thats why HD has the bracket listed as obsolete.. I would check with HD to see if this will work for your tank.. The guy I am buying this set from said it came from an 03.. but the tank si EFI.. so maybe an 04.. I am going to contact HD about this also.. I will get back to you asap.. Keep my posted on how its going..

Hey Rene
Good luck finding what you need ... sorry I don't have anything to offer.
I swapped my '05 FXD (EFI) tank with an '04 FXDL tank, but I went with a FXDB dash and skipped the tach ....
I had to kind of bastardize the set up (come up with a 'work around') as my indicator lights didn't line up with the FXDB dash's indicator lamp mount ....
Unfortunately, I don't have any good info for you--except for proof that "where there's a will, there's a way" ... LoL

According to my 2003 Parts Catalog the FXDL tacho has p/n 67042-99 where as the FXD, FXDX & FXDXT tacho has p/n 68941-99. I checked both p/n's at LSHD1.com and found out that:
68941-99 is TACHOMETER, BLACK (Trim ring)
67042-99 is TACHOMETER, STAINLESS STEEL (Trim ring)
For my FXD ==> FXDL conversion I think I need the 4" version of the SS trim ring tacho to match my stock 4 " SS trim ring speedo.....
At Ebay I found this one:
67042-04 TACH, 4/5500 RDLN,W/S’STL TRIM
Is there anyone who could explain the difference between the 67042-99 and 67042-04 tacho?
TIA,

First part (console) for the conversion project crossed the Atlantic and came in this week.
Not shure if I'm going to repaint it (wrinkle) or strip and polish it......
Bad luck I didn't win an auction including the tacho/speedo bracket last Thuesday.
More to follow soon I hope.....

I hate to say it Rene, but it is a bitch to find all the parts. I did that conversion this winter and i think you were one of the members that responded to my questions about that damn bracket. Gladiator sounds like you are looking at an 04 tank. in 03 they were 2 pieces. you can see in my album how i left out the lower part of the dash panel. Rene i was able to use the stock tach from my fxdxt went right in (once i found the bracket to hold it). when i had my dealer do a search they were only able to track 1 in the whole us and that dealer wouldn't give it up..

Rene, the 99-05 Lowrider tank is almost the holy grail of harley tanks. We found this out when Cathy wanted a spare tank for her 2000 to have the mural done. We got really lucky and found one at a swap meet. Talked the guy down to $150 cause he was packing up and wanted all the cash he could get. I've seen them go for $500+ on eBay with dents! HD will sell you one for $1200 primed
Nothing to add regarding the misc pieces - we just re-used everything from Cathy's old set up. Good luck - it will be worth it when you get through it all.

I don't know if I want to say.....LOL Ebay for like $22 with the gauge housing...Snatched it up as soon as I saw it...after reading the comments on here about finding this setup. Had a buy it now on it....all I need now is the sending unit and gas cap and gauge.
