Rode a 2012 V-Rod and a 103 Wide-Glide over the weekend and the new 103 pulls just as hard from bottom to mid-range as the V-Rod. Didn't really see that much difference power wise between the two. Maybe the top end is different, didn't try it out. Not my bikes so I kept it below 60. Thing is thats were I do most of my riding. So I think you be better offf with the 103. Easier to work on anyway.
A V-Rod or even Buell engine would be a good power plant for a custom bike build. I'm talking bare bones hardtail or bobber. I'd never transplant one of those engines into a perfectly good Dyna.
