Default V&H Big radius 2-1

Looking at my winter projects, pipes are high on the list.

Looking for feedback from those using the V&H Big Radius 2-1. Are these an insanely loud system or can they be baffled?

I am after a 2 - 1 system that provides PERFORMANCE and TONE (in that order) not performance and insanely LOUD

I want something that is going work well without attracting undue attention from the noise *****, who are very active over here.

as a side note, I'll be putting on 16 inch apes, can anyone recommend the necessary brake line length if using the HD diamond back brakelines, and do I need to use the 2 piece setup or can i get away with a single line?
My dealer in their infinite wisdom has no idea as they have always done owners installs with their own custom made lines that are insanely expensive....

Thanks in advance!

I find that the Big Radius 2:1 is fairly quiet at idle but it wakes up when you hit the throttle. Still not extremely loud. They come baffled. baffle can be removed with one screw. I left mine in.

got one, and indeed, quiet enough at idle, than a nice deep sound, but when you open wide hell breaks loose !

and I like it, but the cops here don't have a problem with it, Switzerland if not really the same...

I have one and it is for sale in the dyna section. I LOVE it but am returning my bike to stock. 650 OBO shipped to the lower 48. It has a great low rumble, you can ride it quiet or loud when you get on it. It gives noticeable torque boost over stock because of the increased back pressure. Picture is in my sig pic! Hope this helps,

Jon

I'm not sure about the Big Radius 2-1. I have heard the D&D Fat Cat 2-1 on a 08 Fat Bob sounded great. Can't wait to get back from this Sandbox and pickup my 2012 Fat Bob. I will be installing the Fat Cat on it. Lots of good things about the Fat Cats in forums performance and sounds wise.

I have heard them and they are pretty tame sounding IMHO.. that is until you romp it and then they sound pretty good.. but they still arent obnoxiously loud.. my girlfriend heard one (V&H 2 -1) and said she would rather it have been louder.. heh.. yep shes a keeper.. so i guess I'll be getting the Big shots..

I don't think the 2-1 is too loud at all. I think it has a tone more like a race vehicle. I have no better way of explaining it. I knew it was the pipe for me when I first heard it on another Fatbob. Like everyone says it barks when you get on the throttle.

The 2-2 big radius is much louder and has the more distinctive harley tone.
