I'd seen that the numbers are the same as the 96" engine. Wonder why that is? You'd have thought there'd be some small gain at least or else why would they bother?

Maybe with the same throttle body plus pipes and A/C restrictions the extra CIs add nothing to the power and you need to remove those bottlenecks and add different cams before getting anything extra from it.

Perhaps because it would be easier to take it up to the 113? In order to upgrade 96 to 113 youhave ot change crank but from 103 there is much less to change. HD has never really made much sense when it comes to their HP and Torque. They claim loose tollerances for easy maintenance and less wear. I had a 96' Ultima that was pushing 117 HP right out of the crate. Why can't HD do the same thing?

Sorry but the same is true for the 103. It is just a 96 with bigger pistons.

It seems like the whole same old explaining thread again. The Moco measures power at the crank, not the wheels. Expect a 15-18% loss at the wheels. In general, the 88-96-103 don't generally show a big difference in bone stock Hp. Maybe 4-5 across the range. The torque is where you will notice more. The 88 only makes around 70 tq. where the 103 is in the mid 80's. A lot has to do with not much difference in cam specs and more restriction on the exhaust and the tune for the newer models. Once you go stage 1, you will see the bigger difference.

That's true, the 96 has 3.75 bore x 4.38 stroke, the 103 has 3.875 bore by 4.38 stroke and the 110 has 4.00 bore x 4.38 stroke. I was told that in order to make my 103 inot a 110, they would have to split the lower cases and bore them out for the larger piston. I don't understand why they don't do that from the factory.
