Default Flush mount gloss black fuel gauge reliability

I know this question has been asked many times, I am ready to pull my trigger, is the fuel gauge reliable? I still worry about leds failure on early production. If you have one, how long do you have it? Any issue? Thanks!

I have had mine for about a month so I can't speak on longevity but I do know they have made alot of revisions on them I believe the ones you buy now are like the 3rd or 4th revision so they must have had some issues in the past with them. They sure do look nice that I can tell you with certainty.

I ordered a set in chrome the other week and when they didn't come in after the normal seven day wait, dealer said they were on national back order for another revision... Last I heard they were released and mine shipped. Should be in by next monday...

If you buy a set off the dealer shelf, might want to check and make sure its the most resent revision.

Here is a good way to look at it if your on the fence....I don't really think the stock one is that reliable anyway and sometimes you have to go for form over function!

Those look bad@***! I go by mileage anyway so I say you buy'em.

I have the chorme set and I've been through 3 or 4 now under warrenty before I lost all patience and just lived with them as I think they look nice - the fuel guage has never reliably displayed the correct fuel lever and wavers around all the time. I use the low fuel light on the speedo and the trip now.

I do know the stock gauge isn't that accurate either but it is usable, when you said the fuel guage has never reliably displayed the correct fuel lever What do you mean? The leds don't come on or false reading? I'd like to know. Btw I always fill gas by mileage, never trust the gauge.

I love the look of those gloss balck ones by the way - my experience has been that the blue leds that light up around the perimter of the guage in terms of their position relative to the amount of fuel left vary enormously. For example when its full they are all lit up and then depending on the lean angle, the time of day, the weather, its mood any number from 1,2,3 or the rest glow randomly lol. But hey - I love the look.
