Default What is this?

I have a question about the throttle body on my bike. On the throttle body between the TPS and the IAC is a small 1/4 inch tube bent in a 90 degree angle pointing toward the motor. My question for all of you gear heads is what is that tube for and what goes on it? The reason for this question is I was having problems with my motor and one of the things I did was to clean the throttle body and while doing so, I noticed this tube and NOTHING was attached to it! I searched all under the tank ( I didn't remove the tank) and through the wiring bundle and traced all hoses leading from the tank, but I never found any hose that I thought should be connected to it!
My manual has a diagram that clearly shows some sort of hose going to this tube, but I can't find one and my bike is a 2004 dyna which I looked at a friends 2004 RK and he doesn't have a hose going to the the tube on his throttle body, but does have some sort of rubber cap on his tube. Mine had neither a cap or a hose running to it, it was just open to the air! What is the purpose and what is supposed to go to it and should it be capped if there isn't a line to go to it?
I know, a long winded question, but I have to try and describe the situation to the best of my ability in order to help anyone that wants to help me understand what I am talking about!
Help please!

Just guessing but I believe it is for European or overseas pollution requirements.

Hmmmmmm, could be but what is the purpose for it even on the out of country models? Seems that it should have a meaningful purpose for all bikes? Maybe we can watch here and get the down low on this tube mystery!

If your bike is carb'd, could it be the choke cable guide? (see image below)

Posting an image could help identify the tube?

Found a pic online that clearly shows this tube! The body on the right is a stock body and shows the tube on the left side above the TPS! One sight said it was a California thing, but what is it for? Mine was open and I'm not sure if it really hurts anything other than sucking in trash if unplugged! Seems a good place for the tank vent to go to if it wouldn't hurt anything!

Found it in a Dyna service manual...

It's the connection for the purge hose that runs to the Charcoal canister on CA models:

Funny ... recently I was kind of scratching my head about the same thing ...

... shortly after I got my bike I removed the purge hose, etc. ... and put a cap over the tube ... about a week or so ago, I was noticing the cap had deteriorated and was no longer closing off the tube ... so I took it off ...

... I couldn't remember what the story was on the tube, so this thread refreshed my memory ... THX!

... guess it's time for a trip to and auto parts store to see if I can find another cap for the tube ...

p.s. Is the tube just on CA models or is it the same on 49-state models, too ...?
