Default '13 Street Bob Bag install (Grrrr HD instructions)

Ok, so when I bought my Street Bob, I got the dealer to throw in some bags and all the stuff finally came in, so I set on the task of installing them yesterday. Let me just say the instructions completely suck, and if I were not mechanically/electrically inclined, I would have probably had to take it to the dealer to install...

To their credit, the dealership did give me the signal relocation kit that the catalog calls for...the only problem is, the catalog hasn't caught up to the '13 design yet. The plate on the '13 is attached to the left rear signal so once you do the signal relocation, there is nowhere for the plate to go. I didn't want to spend another $100 on the plate relocation kit that would just move it to the fender (yuck), so I decided to improvise a little and use the plate mount in a different way since it already has the plate light built into it.

I removed the swivel arm and drilled and mounted it right to the back of the left bag, and then ran the plate light wiring right along with the left signal wires under the fender.

It looks a lot cleaner with a normal plate instead of the monstrous temporary one.

Got any better pics of the plate relocation? I have been trying to figure out how to mount my side mount plate with bags.

As requested, a few more pics.

The plate relocation:
As I said, I just removed the swivel arm and mounted it directly on the back of the bag.

Inside of bag:

And then a closer pic of the signal relocation bracket:

Great idea with moving the plate to your saddlebag. I wanted to do something similar but wasn't sure how it would turn out. Might have to look into actually doing it now! I can't believe there isn't a aftermarket solution for mounting the plate to saddlebags.

Getting ready to get a 2013 street bob and was looking at the same bags for work. How easy is it to remove when I don't want them and do they leave a clean look when removed or are there brackets hanging down?
