Default 2013 Street Bob - 103 kit question...

I know you can buy a street bob now with the factory 103 motor but I have been told the 103 kit along with a complete Stage 2 is a better option as far as performance of the motor goes....

So is this correct? Please be gentle I have about -10 knowledge and skills about how this actually works since I am a software guy....

I'm no gear head either. But why turn a smaller motor into a 103. Then add a stage 2 kit. When you can just start with the 103 in the first place?

Friend at work has a 2011 Fat Boy Lo that he converted into a 103. It's a freakin' beast! However, he did spend big $$ making it that way.
I'd say get factory 103, ride it for a season to see how you like it. Then you can save some money and change out the cam, etc in the winter. I personally love the factory 103 on my Fat Bob. I don't plan on changing it any time soon.

The factory 103 on a Street Bob is only about a $350 option, hard to go wrong.

Get the factory 103, when you get bored with that drop in some cams, and headwork, pipes,ac. Retune and have a great engine.

350 for the factory option vs 600 for the jug kit, and then tack labor in on that.

Lot cheaper to get it factory and add cams later.

I just put feuling 543 reaper cams in my stock 103 with stage 1 air cleaner & a thunderheader. My #'s are in my signature. It's a whole lotta fun now!
