Attempting to install recently purchased VIED on my 2012 wide glide. Ted rear O2 sensor is easy to get to as it is under the seat. The front sensor is located under a small cover under rhe voltage regulator. Just wondering if anyone has installed them. Don't like having them separated in this way. Looks like it is open to much to the environment.
Thanks
While I would not spray water on it purposely, I have ridden many a day in downpour rain, sometimes 8 hours of it straight. Never had any problems. Just zip tied to the downtube along with all the other wires.
Thanks all its too bad both connectors were not under the seat. It would be easier. I think I will put some 3M grease in the connector ends to keep any moisture out.
Have a nice day...
I had a similar concern when I installed Vieds on my 2012 Super-glide, so I emailed nightrider and asked. I was told everything is made of watertight components but not meant for direct spray from a pressure washer. Normal water from riding and washing would not be an issue.

That's a great idea, just be sure the grease is dielectric

No, don't do this, or at least not the connectors nearest the sensors.
The sensors get their external oxygen sample through the gap between the wires and the insulation and for this reason you must not solder the connectors or use any kind of grease on them or you can effect the readings they give.
I know this sounds odd but it is true and it is important not to lube the connectors.
