Default Rear Brake

I posted this in the brakes section and didn't get much reponse so thought I would throw it in here and see how I go...

Just curious to know what everyone else's are like???? I have a 2010 Widey and the rear brakes are terrible,I doubt you could lock them up...I just changed pads to see if it made a difference but it didn't do much..Maybe a caliper and rotor change????

Cheers...Sparra

I am changing mine today also.

Did you try bleeding them? Might help with the stopping.

I wish I could help but I can lock the rear brake if I want on my 2007 Superglide with no problem. Try bleeding ALL the air and condensation out of yours(a complete change of fluid) and retest them.

Strange like rawhide07 mine will lock up in a jiffy, I have to be careful not to lock them up and start skidding. Maybe your forward foot peg is blocking you from applying them properly. It happened to me when I changed pegs - the trick was just to rotate the peg a little and that was it.

I've locked mine up and went into a bit of a skid one time. So I don't have any issue with mine. Good luck with yours bro. Try bleeding and adjusting them.

On my SuperGlide with forward controls, I can barely even press the rear brake pedal. I have to turn my toes into the left to be able to even get my big toe on the pedal. I installed a larger pedal cover tonight but haven't been out to test it. I have got to put a backer plate on the pedal to strengthen the backing of the new pedal cover. So far I just use the front brake to stop as that is really all that I can apply. I too thought about changing the pads and bleeding the system but now to hear you all that doesn't do anything to help.

Alternately the brake pedal can be raised by the pushrod . You will find the adjuster along the rod that leads back to the reservoir.

Adjusting will help with the push but not with the alignment problem. Maybe this will help the OP though.

The brake rod is connected to the master cylinder. Not the reservoir.
Did you flush the system, change the fluid entirely in the brake system?
Does it feel spongy?
If not, I would blow out the brake line just to make sure something isn't interfering with the passing of the fluid.
It is possible the master cylinder is bad.
