Default Stock 96" cams vs stock 88"s

Is there much of a differance between the stock cams of a 96" and an 88"?
Also will the 96" cams fit in a 88" motor? The reason i'm asking is; i have a set of cams that i took out of my last bike (a 2009 street bob) and if they would fit and get me at least some kind of bump in power it would be cheaper than buying some new ones.
I know that there are alot of good cams out there that would get me more power but i really don't want to put alot of money into this bike. Iv'e done that before and you can never get that back out of it.

I think I did the entire tensioner conversion, w/cams for around 1100. Considering the importance to the rest of the bike....better than spending $$$ for heavy motor work because something went horribly wrong. You're never gonna get the money back out of the bike, but it's better than shelling out thousands later because you skimped on a couple hundred now.

You might want to look on eBay for some cams. It took a couple of weeks, but I found my SE204's for about $75.
