Just stopped running
This may have come up before, but does anyone have an idea why my 01 Low Rider just stopped running as I was driving down the street, but I was able to restart without with out any problem. The dash still had electric power and it's like the emergency cutoff switch had been flipped, but it was not touched. I can't believe the carb was empty or It would have taken a few cranks to restart. Anyone have this happen to them?
Thanks,
Jim

Bad run switch? It happens, and sometimes switch problems are aggravatingly intermittent! And, if you are lucky, sometimes they just fail and that's that. I just had to have my off/run and starter switches replaced...I had noticed that the starter switch did not seem to be working one time, and then I noticed that the starter hung up after it started just a couple of weeks back...made a nasty sounding grinding noise like the clutch assembly was coming apart. Of course, it started and ran just fine when I tried to show the dealer service manager later in the day and I was not surprised a few days later when the dealer tech showed me that both switches were bad and the bike would crank and run when the ignition key was turned on...they replaced all four of the switches in the right control and the clutch assembly under extended warranty.
