Default Starting/Firing Up Problem

I have an issue hopefully someone can help. This just happened yesterday after 2 successful starts and runs. I went to fire the bike up after leaving the store and when I flipped the kill switch to run, the bike started right up without me even touching the start switch. Not only did it do that but when it started there was an immediate "grinding" noise. Best way I can describe it. Now I realize it might not be anything grinding but its the only way I can describe the sound. I shut the bike off waited a few and turned it back on. Same thing bike fired up when I flipped the switch to run and started making the sound again. After a few more tires of turning it off and back on every time the bike started up when the kill-switch was flipped to run and the noise started immediately after. A few times the noise would stop after a few seconds and other times just keep going getting louder and louder.

What model and year?

First thing you need to know: It is not the starter, keep your money in your wallet.

It`s not the starter solenoid, if it were, the starter would crank all the time, even if the ignition switch was turned off.

Let`s narrow it down:

Disconnect the small wire from the starter solenoid.

Connect your voltmeter (a test light will work here also) to the wire you just disconnected from the starter solenoid, with the switches off you should see no voltage yet.

Turn on the ignition switch, and then turn on the kill switch, you should see voltage at this wire.

Next, put the bike in gear and see if there is still power at the wire.

If the wire is still powered while the bike is in gear, it is most likely a stuck starter relay (cheap, even from the dealer).

If the wire stops getting power when the bike is in gear, it is most likely a problem with the start switch in the handlebar control housing.

It is an 05 Electra Glide FLHTCSE2 Screaming Eagle. I am currently taking apart the switch housing to check if there may of been a short in them.

It is not a short that is causing the problem, if there were a short it would blow a fuse. You can test the switch without disassembling the control housings...

Ok. I realized I have 2 months left on my warranty so I'm going to take it to the dealership and let them figure it out. I've been having other electrical issues before this happened and I don't know to much about wiring on these bigger bikes so I'll see what they have to say.
