I'd think it obvious that you have no power coming from the switch to the two smaller wires at the solenoid...
Pull those two wires at the starter solenoid, may be in a single connector not sure, and check with multimeter to be sure the switch has continuity through that circuit. Could be bad switch, broken connection between switch and solenoid, bad ground, etc. No way to tell other than tracing it out. Since it works when you cross over the connectors, some where there is no power either going to, or coming back from the switch. That's where I'd start. Be sure to check your fuses. If that model has a necessity to disengage the clutch, or depress the brake, that could be a source (or lack of) also.
