Switchback is burning (literally) my leg...any thoughts?
I have a 2012 Dyna Switchback FLD. The air cleaner/filter and/or cylinders and heads are killing me. Once on the bike for more than 20 minutes my right leg is so uncomfortable that I am unable to ride in any "normal" position. Just recently I added a new Mustang seat and a mid-frame air deflector/heat shield. I was so excited thinking how the heat would be redirected and my ride more comfortable. No so ... the heat has indeed been redirected, now my calf and under knee area are scorched. Seriously, after a 120 mile ride yesterday my right was red as if I had a first degree burn and hot to the touch for several hours.
What can I do to cool Ruby down? New pipes/catalytic converter?
I love this bike but the heat is RIDICULOUS!!!!

If it's even unbearable from normal riding, you should take it to harley. I have heard though that having an aftermarket exhaust will change that, as all the emissions parts taken off the stock exhaust makes it not run as hot. Are you also using full synthetic oil? I just picked up my 2014 switchback last Thursday. Already at 500 miles with nothing but smiles. I would take it to harley and have it looked at (since it is under warranty).

Check out www.nightrider.com they may explain at least part of the problem. From what I understand, Harley tunes the bikes to run as lean as possible in order to meet EPA standards, and lean means heat. New exhaust may alleviate some heat with a freer flowing exhaust but will also cause it to run even leaner, and may require a tune from the dealer or an aftermarket tuner. I have the vieds from nightrider on mine and they have helped, but i plan on buying a tuner soon for more performance/less heat.
