sausage taillight, limpdick, limp sausage..whatever you want to call it.

I hate it just like everyone else, but I dont want to take it off and then fill in the hole with some badge.

I want to have a smooth fender and have a light either on the side with the license plate or LED light under the fender (along with the curvature)

If i was to go to the shop and get the holes welded and smoothed, what are the taillights I should be looking at?

I am searching but I come across a lot of different stuff, and I figured maybe I could get a definite answer.

If I wanted to buy 2013 fender, what else would I need to make it work on a 09?

Im sure all of these have been asked a million times before but I had hard time finding them

Love the bike, hated the tail lights, really hated all the aftermarket options... I chopped em all off tucked an LED strip under the fender. Problem solved

 

your tripping getn the holes filled and painted, would be much cheaper to buy a used painted 2013 fender. they are in the dyna parts section and on ebay often. the 2013 will bolt on in a few mins, just tuck up extra wiring into the inner struts. you dont need a jack or any odd tools to swap it. 4 bolts and done.

what else would i need with a 2013 fender? does the 2013 LED light plug right into 2009?

 

2013 came with a small reflector not a light, if you want a light like a led under fender strip badlands or custom dynamics makes one that will fit and wire into your bike.

2012 and 2013 fxdb do not need a center tailight unless you want one. the blinkers are run/brake/turn

 

do not overthink this, buy a used 2013 fender get a 1/2 in wrench (if a call ) get the right size torx. take off the old fender put on the new...its been a while since ive done it, but these are the basic instructions.

picture your bike with no dick light on it, it is the same exact fender as the 2013 but your 2012 fender has a gapping limp dick light hole.

last year harley was selling a 2013 bobbed fender as a chopped smooth fender for 9-12 fxdb.

Someday I'll fill the holes in fender. In the meantime, I went with this...
