My Dyna riding brothers and sisters,

I was driving on a major freeway this AM, when I noticed a Kawasaki Ninja 650R ride up beside me. We motivated up the road for a good while and then pulled up in front of me and headed on up the road. For some unknown reason, I took time to really study the rider and the bike, as it is the same model as my son's.

I took an exit and he went straight. A short while later, the radio news said the freeway was closed down due to a motorcycle accident/fatality. I KNEW it was the rider I had just traveled along with, and IT WAS! I found images on a local news site, and it was his bike. 35 years old and witnesses said he was weaving traffic at high speeds and hit a big rig trailer.

I know we all come close more often than we like to admit, but this one has really affected me today... Y'all please be safe when you ride....tomp dd50

That sucks! Really sucks!
Pray for his love ones.

I really hate to say this, but sometimes it's good to be reminded.

That would really affect me as well. I get a sick feeling just seeing a bike on it's side.

Sport bike or not , any rider going down is very sad, my prayers go out to the family, and a clear reminder to keep my riding in check.

Saw my best friend killed 40 years ago in a dirt bike accident. Some things just never leave you.

BTW, this happened in Houston, today... tomp

That's the primary reason that I'm looking at buying a cruiser. I have a three year old little boy and a wife. I still have my Buell, but have been apprehensive to ride it since he was born. I want something that will accommodate a more relaxed riding style. I'm out of the city now, and am feeling more confident. Stuff like this just makes me cringe. He's just a few years older than me, and now nothing but a statistic and a horribly painful memory for his family.
